Playing The Lottery

Once, I bought a lottery ticket way back in 70s. It was the first time I bought a lottery ticket—of course, it was the last time too. Since the moment I bought it my thoughts were meandering around it. I had developed a feeling that I was going to win the lottery. I don’t know why I was for sure that I was going to be the winner. I was just thinking what do with the lottery money.

There was a swarm of thoughts about everything money could buy. The very night, I was driving a limousine—-of course in my dream. In fact, I didn’t have an iota of an idea how to drive a car then, yet I was driving all through the familiar places, zooming fast….faster….fastest……cut….cut….cut, I woke up.

I was very nervous whether my dream would turn into reality. It was dreadful to wait for over a week until the results were announced. I was all tense throughout the time but I didn’t win a dime.

Then, realization dawned upon me. I thought it was not fair to think of having others’ money—whatever be the means. You get a lottery only when others lose their money. Whatever you get, it is others’ money except your investment on buying the ticket. Same is the case with bonanzas that commercial organizations offer. It is always someone’s money they offer us. They don’t offer anything from their own pockets or profits. They loot it from our brethrens’ pockets. They are robbing Peter to pay Paul.
